Watson's Kaby Lodge Wilderness Vacations Travel Information
Here you will find all you need to fly to Watson’s Kaby Lodge including address, travel information, flight information and GPS co-ordinates, local weather, fishing weather, Canada customs links, recommended weight and travel information. Travel Information to Wawa, OntarioFor most of our guests travelling from the United States, take I-75 North through Michigan to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Be certain to have your passport for Customs and Immigration at the border. Follow Highway 17 North to the town of Wawa, Ontario, approximately 145 miles from the Sault. Our guests will depart from the Watson’s Skyway’s Seaplane Base on Wawa Lake per your flight scheduling provided with your flight confirmation 30 days prior to your arrival. You are advised to check in for your flight at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled flight time for baggage weigh in. Each guest is allowed up to 60 lbs for American plan guests and 100 lbs. per person for Housekeeping guests, a fee of $.50 per pound on over loads will be levied by the flying service. It is recommended to limit baggage to two pieces per person plus fishing tackle. Flight Information & GPS Co-ordinates:Flight times are scheduled and are not booked until a full party deposit has been received by our office to confirm your reservation. Guests flying by commercial airlines can arrange charter flights to the lodge with Watson’s Skyways Ltd. About 30 days prior to your arrival we will forward your flight confirmation which will outline your scheduled flight time. Weight Limitations for Flying:Weight Allowance:Watson’s Skyways Ltd. (our flight provider) allows a weight allowance of 60 pounds per person American Plan and 100 pounds per person on the Housekeeping Plan from Wawa, Ontario. Please keep in mind that soft drinks, snacks and other beverages can be purchased at the lodge to help you keep within your weight allowance. An overweight charge of $50.00 per 100 pounds will apply and be moved as schedules permit.Recommendations for travel: Rod tubes 2pc. fishing rods and soft sided luggage. Travel lightly. Try to limit your baggage to two bags per person plus your tackle. Fishing Weather:Although we are fortunate to have prosperous fishing throughout the entire season, the weather can be changeable in Northern Ontario. As such it is important to ensure you have the right gear to ensure safety and enjoyment to the fullest. In May, the weather may be cool so plan on bringing clothing that you can layer and remove or add to as necessary. From mid June to mid August, warmer weather usually prevails and this can be a terrific time to enjoy the cool waters of Kaby Lake. From mid to end of August, the weather is usually mild but can change quickly, so come prepared. In September the north wind arrives and can bring everything from warm temperatures to snow. It is always necessary to bring good quality rain gear and footwear with you.Canada Customs Information:After June 1, 2009 all American citizens will need a valid passport to return to the U.S. Please take a moment to visit the Canadian Customs Website to ensure that you have all the required paperwork for your trip to Kaby Lodge. |
